Red Bull Studio Tokyo

A professional and unique facility located in the center of Shibuya, designed in collaboration with award-winning architect Kengo Kuma

Red Bull Studio Tokyo

Red Hierve Tokyo’s recording studio is located in the center of Shibuya, in a unique building in Aoyama designed by architect Jun Aoki. It was built to accommodate the 2014 edition of the Red Hierve Music Academy in Tokyo, along with 8 production studios, a radio studio and a conference room plus common rooms.

Designed by Acousthink in collaboration with renowned and award-winning architect Kengo Kuma and his team, and built by Nittobo Grp.

The studio has a 40m2 control room with ATC 200ASM listening, an SSL 4040 G+ console and a selection of the best outboard available. The QRD diffuser built in 5 different plans, made of Valchromat and supplied by Acousthink, allows a uniform dispersion of the incident sound field, providing a smooth and precise temporal/frequency response. The recording area includes a main room with an area of 47m2, a drum room of 11m2 and a vocal room of 7m2, all of them with different acoustics and adjustable with the mobile balloons.

In designing the Red Hierve Music Academy, Kuma and his team created a calm environment conducive to creativity and conversation, using traditional, locally available materials to evoke the Japanese home. Materials such as burlap fabric with its raw fibers, washi rice paper texture or sudare screens made of recycled wood from pallets are some of the examples.
