Acoustic measurements

Acousthink has more than 20 years of experience in carrying out acoustic measurements in the audiovisual sector, building, activities, environment or industry. We have state-of-the-art measuring equipment, with current legal metrological verification, and calibrated by an accredited laboratory according to UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025, to guarantee accurate and reliable results. We know that every project is unique and that’s why at Acousthink we tailor our acoustic measurement services to your needs, ensuring the results exceed your expectations.

Acoustic analysis of interior spaces

The rooms, depending on their type, can have very different and specific interior acoustic quality requirements according to their use. Recording studios, radio or podcast studios, television sets, conference rooms, auditoriums, restaurants, classrooms, offices, industrial buildings, … are premises with very different indoor acoustics objectives.

The measurement and characterization of the acoustics of a room is an important process both to verify that it provides the appropriate sound quality and that the acoustic models are accurate. Parameters such as Early Decay Time, Reverberation Time, intelligibility, impulse and frequency response, clarity or background noise are measured. We also carry out an analysis of the room’s own resonances and modes in case of low-frequency acoustic quality problems.

Measurement, analysis and optimization of audio systems

The optimization of the audio system of a venue is an iterative and meticulous process, which requires professionals with experience in the design, measurement and adjustment of electroacoustic systems.

At ACOUSTHINK we perform acoustic measurements in the time and frequency domain with TDS, MLS or other signals, to be able to determine iteratively in the adjustment process, if all the components that make up the audio system of a venue are operating at its maximum performance. It checks if the speakers are correctly positioned, if they are aligned temporally and in phase, if the cut-off frequencies of the processors are correctly adjusted, or if the gain or equalization of the different channels is adequate.

Acoustic insulation measurements

We carry out acoustic insulation measurements on site to carry out a control of the acoustic quality in the building. Correct application and compliance with CTE DB-HR regulations, Decree 176/2009, R.D. 1367/2007 and municipal ordinances on noise and vibrations. The following on-site tests are carried out:

  • Measurement of acoustic insulation against airborne noise according to the procedure described by the UNE-EN ISO 16283-1:2015 standard (former UNE-EN ISO 140-4)
  • Measurement of facade acoustic insulation according to the procedure described by the UNE-EN ISO 16283-3:2016 standard (former UNE-EN ISO 140-5)
  • Measurement of acoustic insulation against impact noise according to the procedures described in the UNE-EN ISO 16283-2:2021 standard (former UNE-EN ISO 140-7:1999)

Evaluation of environmental noise levels

At Acousthink we carry out measurements of environmental noise produced by infrastructures such as railway or airport traffic, by activities or by works, among others.

Measurements of vibrations in works and buildings

Buildings close to train and subway tracks, in areas where works are being carried out, or that have facilities (cooling towers, air conditioning machines, pumping units, elevators, …) without the necessary treatment, are susceptible to receive vibrations that negatively influence the interior acoustic quality of the building.

At Acousthink we carry out measurements of vibrations transmitted in the interior space of buildings to verify compliance with Royal Decree 1367/2007.

Vibration management in the construction sector is essential to prevent structural damage and ensure the safety of surrounding buildings. We use advanced vibration measurement equipment accompanying construction companies at all times, to identify and mitigate vibration sources before they can cause significant problems,…

Measurements of human vibrations

Direct vibrations to the human body can cause serious health problems, they can in some cases produce permanent damage to internal organs as a result of vibration levels at certain frequencies.

We perform hand-arm and whole-body human vibration measurements to assess the effect of exposure of the human body to vibrations produced in the work environment. The extracted parameters make it possible to easily assess the risk of injury to workers exposed to constant vibrations. Whole body and arm vibration measurements are compatible with all relevant international standards: ISO 5349, ISO 8041, ISO 2631-1 and ISO 2631-5.
